Seth James

Seth James grew up working cattle on his family's ranch in King County, deep in West Texas, where music didn't seem to be everywhere and he had to hunt for it. He found Muddy Waters and Lightnin' Hopkins, then Booker T. & the MGs, NRBQ and Delbert McClinton, and ultimately a sound of his own: an easy voice that can croon and soul-shout, campfire storytelling chops, and moody, virtuosic electric guitar. His 2009 solo record That Kind of Man brought next-level acclaim, and the next year he co-founded the roots-rock group The Departed with friend Cody Canada before returning to his solo career.
