Leander is a rapidly growing suburb at the northern end of the Austin metro, uniquely positioned with MetroRail access to downtown Austin while sitting on the edge of the Hill Country. Its location on the Balcones Escarpment gives it dramatic terrain and access to the Highland Lakes and the rugged limestone country to the west.

What to See & Do

MetroRail Station — Leander is the northern terminus of Austin's MetroRail commuter line, making it uniquely accessible to downtown Austin without a car. The station area has been developing as a mixed-use hub.

Lake Travis — FM-1431 west from Leander winds through spectacular Hill Country terrain to Lake Travis and the Highland Lakes. The drive itself is worth taking for the views.

Brushy Creek Regional Trail — A 13-mile trail system connecting Leander to Cedar Park and Round Rock through the Brushy Creek greenbelt — excellent for hiking, cycling, and wildlife watching.

Devine Lake Park — A small city lake park providing local fishing, paddling, and picnicking options.

Hill Country terrain — The area immediately west of Leander transitions into classic limestone Hill Country, with cedar and live oak covering rolling terrain that makes for excellent hiking and mountain biking.

Food & Drink

Leander's restaurant scene has grown substantially along US-183 and in the downtown core near the MetroRail station. The Leander Old Town area has been developing as a community gathering place with local restaurants and bars. The proximity to Cedar Park (immediately south) expands the dining options considerably.
